“This is my now extremely faint first tattoo, on the index finger of my left hand. (I’m righthanded, obviously, or it would have been on my left!) It is a version of the symbol that is on the cover of Sharon Olds’ “The Gold Cell.” (LOL.) I have a much bigger version on my left forearm from a few years after, done by my friend Beth as she was learning to tattoo. (She practiced on a grapefruit!)

Cost: about five bucks in ink, sewing needle and thread.
