From thingsiatethatilove:

“This is my now extremely faint first tattoo, on the index finger of my left hand. (I’m righthanded, obviously, or it would have been on my left!) It is a version of the symbol that is on the cover of Sharon Olds’ “The Gold Cell.” (LOL.) I have a much bigger version on my left forearm from a few years after, done by my friend Beth as she was learning to tattoo. (She practiced on a grapefruit!) Cost: about five bucks in ink, sewing needle and thread. Artist: myself, in a dark room, listening to Joy Division.”

And on that awesome note, I have to leave my screen for a few hours — please keep posting and sending your tattoos to emilymagazine AT gmail!   I love these so much that after the “contest” is over I am going to make a separate tumblr for them.  Maybe I will get a blogger book deal …
