Remember how Choire posted a picture of his zine from 1993? I was inspired to dig out the one I put out with several of my Brooklyn friends at the same time: it was called ‘Americostia’ lol/wtf?

The mission statement: ‘Welcome to Americostia. A world of 50 ethnic wars, where corruption strangles world democracy, and where the respected papers warn of the impending flu pandemic. To live in our culture is to meet the barrage of conflicting images that lure us toward the golden arches of Nirvana. [Ed note: miss u, KC.] We bliss out on the currency of our multitrillion dollar global economy: information. It washes our existence, covers even apathy or frustration. Americostia recognizes a tendency to turn inward from information overdose. We want to examine an evolving notion of personal experience against the backdrop of constant communication. Americostia the beautiful.
