Be careful. Proceed with caution, as this may upset you. I sent someone to buy After Henry, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Miami and Political Fictions (IN THAT ORDER) at the Union Square Barnes & Noble today. They do not however carry any of those books at this time.

According to the site database they do have most of those books at the B&N in Union Square (they allow search by store inventory) but B&N annoyingly shelves NF essays all over the place.  You’d probably find one in the current events section, one under biography because someone there thinks it’s a memoir, one under “essays” and another under social sciences.

But you can breathe easy now; B&N knows who Didion is, and they do carry her books.

I would have assumed that the USQ B&N didn’t stock Slouching Towards Bethlehem because they assume every person in Manhattan owns a copy.

Ha! Both of these may be correct. (Even simultaneously.) My shop-goer swears diligence. I will investigate and report back in short order, as the man said.
