I lived on that goddamned corner for, what, 14 years, and every winter it turned into a lake of slushy hell. If St. Mark’s and First Avenue were in Newark, Cory Booker would have fixed that busted drainage system himself back in the 90s. (Provided he’d also invented time travel, I guess, since he was busy at snooty snoot Oxford on his Rhodes scholarship when I moved in.) Also he probably would have ordered the demolition of that horrid apartment building. Although, to be fair, time is doing that job handsomely.(This might actually be my favorite NYT article in recent memory.)
