I dreamed that Choire and I were discussing the meaning of Phil Collins’ In The Air Tonight. We listened to that drum part of the song - the best three seconds of the song - over and over on a cassette tape. Choire kept insisting the tune is about rehabilitating prisoners and then we tried to remember if they ever used it during a riot scene in Oz (probably not) and I kept telling him he’s wrong, the song is about Phil Collins being disappointed he was not picked to sing at the closing ceremonies in the 1984 Olympics and Choire was like “The timing is all wrong for that. Seriously.” Neither of us were right, of course, as it is clearly a song about farting in bed.
Anyhow, woke up singing this. Enjoy having it in your head all day.
