cuteboyswithcats: ian somerhalder and his cat Recently I was really wishing there were more cats on “Vampire Diaries,” thinking of Let the Right One In, and how Let Me In, its American version, contains a distinct and shameful lack of cats. Maybe in this coming Thursday’s episode, since Bonnie the witch is back, there’ll be some cat-related business. Cats move plots, when needed. So what, I wonder, is Ian Somerhalder doing here with his cat? Given the cat’s bell and the cat’s size, I presume this is a part-time outdoor cat who comes to eat inside as well. Is this his driveway? (Since this is his cat, he is surely at home, not somewhere in the woods, biking.) Does he live in the Hills—is that all that nature there? Or is this on-set, in Covington, Georgia, where the TV show is, improbably, shot? The vegetation could be either, though it’s a bit of a monoculture for California. Which could mean that he brings his cat with him while they are shooting seasons. Perhaps this was a cat he found there! Also this could easily be back at his home in Louisiana, which means it’s hot and the jeans are merely for protection while biking. I bet that’s where they are. The woods have that dense look. Either way, I like his burned-out dusty driveway. I wonder what four-door European car that is, with the gas tank on the passenger side. Do new Mercedes round like that at the back bumper? If this is on-set, is the car leased? And is it paid from his $40,000 an episode salary? Is the car his mother’s? Or is the car in his contract? Is the cat in his contract? I find his taste in bracelets rather astonishing/Tibetan. Given that he is only 5’9”, he looks like he weighs about 120 pounds. I’m surprised that he can lift that cat, who looks like a solid 14 pounds. That’s a good-looking cat. Given how clean his t-shirt is, I am presuming this was a moment pre-bike expedition. For whom is the second bike? The obvious answer is: the photographer. Who is that photographer? And what if that’s not Ian Somerhalder’s cat?
